Catechists

A Catechist is a person who volunteers and dedicates their time and talents to passing on the traditions of the Catholic faith to our young people. All catechists receive professional training in content and methodology of teaching. Workshops and courses are offered continually throughout the year by the Diocesan Office of Faith Formation for the catechists to continue to update their knowledge.

If interested in becoming a catechist or for more information, please contact Mrs. Mary-Cassandra Odenat at (718) 253-4404 extension 16.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Parishioners commissioned to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion may also bring the Eucharist to the sick and homebound members of the parish as well as those hospitalized. If you are in need, please see one of the priests.

Ministry to the Sick and Homebound Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion may also bring the Eucharist to the sick and homebound members of the parish who are unable to attend Mass and receive Communion in church. As a result of the generosity of these ministers, Holy Communion will be available to these persons every Saturday evening or Sunday coinciding when the community gathers for Eucharist.  If you or someone you know in our parish is in need of visitation by one of our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, please contact the rectory, who will be coordinating this ministry to the sick. We can be reached at (718) 253-4404.

Lectors

The role of the lector is to proclaim the Word of God at liturgical celebrations and the celebration of Eucharist. If you are interested, please contact Ms. Lidia Reid at the Rectory and she will explain the process involved in becoming a lector. Ms. Lidia Reid schedules the lectors for weekend liturgies after they have received Diocesan Training and are commissioned for this ministry.
